Gautami Kapoor recalls getting molested when she was in 6th grade; shares 'It took me actually 2-3 minutes to register what was happening'

Gautami Kapoor recalls a harrowing incident that occurred when she was barely 12 years old. The actress used to travel by bus to her school and that is when she faced molestation. At such a young age, she couldn't register what had happened and was extremely scared of how her mother would react when she would come to know about it.

Actress Gautami Kapoorrecently spoke up about a horrible childhood event in which she was molested by a stranger while returning home from school in Mumbai. In an interview, she bravely recalled the story and discussed how her mother gave her the fortitude to speak up against injustice.In a conversation with Hautterfly, the actress detailed the molestation she faced.
Gautami was asked about her thoughts on Mumbai's safety. She exhibited a strong emotional attachment to the city, confessing both partiality and admiration for it. While conceding that no location is perfect, she stated that Mumbai has always felt safe to her, and the city has had a tremendous impact on her life and work.
Gautami also reflected on her college days, noting how she had to commute by bus at the age of five because her family could not afford a car. Sharing a harrowing experience, Gautami said, "I was in the sixth standard when a man slid his hand inside my trousers. I was very, very young so I was like what the hell. It took me actually 2-3 minutes to register what was happening because I was so young and then I got so scared and I got off the bus and it took me 15-20 minutes to figure out what was happening is that man following me?"
She further added, "And then when I met my mother I was very scared to tell her. I thought she would blame me or scold me or my uniform and say ‘It's your mistake’. When I went home, she asked me Is everything, was okay because she could read my face and my body language. And then I said. So I said some person he put his hand, so she said. Are you crazy? You should have turned around and slapped him or you should have held him by the collar.I was just looking at my mom. She said, 'Never be scared if somebody does that hold his hand or create a huge noise, never be scared.' And she said. 'If at all you feel fearful. Keep a spray or something in your bag like pepper spray and spray it."
