'Earlier, to bag roles, you were asked to compromise': Ekta Jain reveals the reason behind quitting acting

Actress Ekta Jain said goodbye to the glam world in 2004 and took up a job in an airline as a cabin crew. However, after working as a cabin crew member for nearly 10 years, she is now all set to make her come back to the acting world. In a conversation with a news portal, Ekta recently opened up on the reasons behind her decision to quit the industry at that time. While making shocking claims that back at that time actresses were asked to 'compromise' to bag roles, she said, 'The circumstances at that time were really tough for television actors. To bag roles, you were asked to compromise which had put me off. But, after being away for so long I realized once an actor is always an actor, so I resigned and decided to make a comeback in the industry.' While stating that now things have changed and filmmakers and producers are looking for talented and good artists, giving them their due, she further added, 'Today, the industry has drastically transformed. People are looking for talent and to reduce the cost of production now makers are looking for good artists than stars! Tables have turned and better options are available for performers.' Ekta Jain has played varied roles in TV shows like 'Shakalaka Boom Boom', 'Family No. 1' and 'Apun Toh Bas Vaise Hi.' But her shot to fame was the TV serial 'Shagun'. She was also seen in films 'Taal' and 'Nayak: The Real Hero.' Earlier, in a conversation with ETimes, Ekta spoke about moving to films from television and said, 'I come from a television background and have moved to films. Acting in films has been like a dream come true. It is not easy to land film projects in Bollywood but with my hard work and determination, I am glad that I am getting different roles.' Meanwhile, talking about her upcoming projects, Ekta Jain will next be seen in films like 'Khali Bali', 'Shatranj' and 'Trahimam'. For more news and updates stay tuned to ETimes
