R Madhavan’s son Vedaant opens up after winning Danish Open, says 'didn’t want to live under dad’s shadow'

R Madhavan's son Vedaant, recently made the nation proud by winning a gold and a silver medal at Danish Open in Copenhagen. The entire country is lauding the achievement of this young champ. In a recent interview, Vedaant opened up about his parents' sacrifices and said that he wanted to make a name for himself by not living under his dad's shadow. In a conversation with a news portal, our very own Maddy's son, Vedaant said, 'I didn’t wanna live under my dad’s shadow. I wanted to make a name for myself. I didn’t want to be just R Madhavan son. My parents are always looking after me. Both put so much effort. One of the main sacrifices my parents made was to shift to Dubai.' Notably, R Madhavan, a doting father, shifted to Dubai with his wife Sarita Birje in December last year so that their son Vedant could prepare for Olympics 2026. Earlier, on his son winning gold, proud father Madhavan took to his Twitter handle and shared his happiness by writing, 'And so TODAY the winning streak continues...@VedaantMadhavan gets a GOLD at Denmark open. Pradeep Sir @swimmingfedera1 #ANSAdxb & all of you for the continued blessings.' Vedaant won the gold medal in the men 800m freestyle event at the Danish Open. Before bagging gold, he had won a silver in the 1500m freestyle at the same meet. During the time when Madhavan and his wife were shifting to Dubai, in a conversation with an entertainment portal, the actor said, 'Let your child fly freely. Don’t stop him or her from pursuing any career. I’ve no regrets about Vedaant choosing not to be an actor. His chosen vocation is far more important to me than my own career. I’ll do what it takes to take him where he wants to go in life.' Notably, 16-year-old Vedaant is a professional swimmer and has won several medals in past. Last year, he won four silver medals and three bronze medals at the 47th Junior National Aquatic Championships. He had also won a bronze at the Latvian Open Swimming Champion event.
