AGRA: Following irregularities in evaluation of answer sheets and delay in declaration of results, a group of 30 students from Agra, Hathras, Aligarh and other nearby districts staged a protest at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University.
Unable to get their problems resolved even after making several rounds to the varsity, more than six girls tried to stop vice-chancellor Arvind Kumar Dixit from leaving his office in Paliwal Park campus.

The girls were allegedly abused and beaten up by the varsity security guards.
According to sources, the personal security guards of the vice-chancellor took away mobile phones of the students who were trying to record the entire incident. Girls alleged that police didn’t even take their written complaint.
A student of an affiliated college in Hathras, Nisha Kumari, said, “Due to the faulty evaluation process, I was failed in BSc second year exam. A copy of the answer sheet taken from the university administration, with the help of Right To Information (RTI) Act, shows that I have been given 2 marks out of 10 for a completely correct answer. I am demanding re-evaluation. Each time I go to them with my problem, the officials ask me to come later. On Monday, when I went to meet the VC with other students facing result-related problems, he also asked us to come after seven days. When we tried to raise questions over careless evaluation and malpractices taking place in the university, we were first pushed out of the office and then, the varsity security guards (both male and female) hit us and abused us.”
Another student of an affiliated college in Aligarh, Shahjahan, said, “The university has not declared our BSc result even after much delay. The university administration claims that the BSc result has not been declared as flying squad found the students cheating at the examination centre. To counter that, we demanded the administration to take action against those found cheating and declare results of the remaining students. We were beaten up and abused by the security guards when we tried to raise the issue with the VC to get a time-bound solution.”

Hariparwat police station officer PK Maan said, “Students misbehaved with the VC while trying to stop his car. After getting a complaint from the university administration, we reached the campus to normalise the situation. Later, students and university officials discussed the issues peacefully. No complaint was given by the students or the university administration.”
Meanwhile, university public relations officer GS Sharma said, “The VC patiently listened to the students who had come to meet him. He directed time-bound redressal of their complaints. However, some of the students who had failed in their exam tried to pressure the administration to help them pass. They misbehaved with the VC. Security guards only tried to control them.”
