Cop found dead near M’nagar railway track
Agra: A policeman in uniform was found dead, with a gunshot wound on his forehead, near a railway track under Civil Lines in Muzaffarnagar, police said on Monday. He was identified as Rupender Singh, 32, who was serving at Police Lines in Muzaffarnagar. Initial investigation suggests that he killed himself, police added.
SP city Satyanarayan Prajapat said, "Around 9pm, Civil Lines police station and the control room received information through PRV via 112 emergency service that a constable was found dead with a gunshot wound."
The body was recovered on Sunday night, around 300m away from Muzaffarnagar railway station and was sent for postmortem. Police said that his service weapon, an empty cartridge case, one live cartridge, and his duty bag were recovered from the spot. His family in Bulandshahr was informed, police added.
"Prima facie, it is a case of suicide, but police are investigating the case from all possible angles. The reason behind the suicide is also being ascertained," a police officer said.
