Ahmedabad: Top Indian golfers, including Olympian Udayan Mane and former Asian Tour winner Khalin Joshi, will be vying for honours at the third edition of the Gujarat Open Golf Championship beginning at the Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club here on Wednesday.
Other leading Indian golfers include Viraj Madappa, Sachin Baisoya, Yuvraj Singh Sandhu and Om Prakash Chouhan, while foreign players to feature in the event include Mithun Perera and N Thangaraja (both Sri Lanka) Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain (both Bangladesh), USA's Varun Chopra and Japan's Makoto Iwasaki.
Varun Parikh, Anshul Patel, Shravan Desai and Jay Pandya will lead the local challenge in the event carrying Rs 1 crore prize purse. Gujarat-based amateurs in the field are Dhruv Suri and Swayam Ambalia. The third amateur in the field is Noida-based Aarav Shah of Australia.
