AMRITSAR: The string of grenade attacks in Punjab may now end with the arrest of Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passian, by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Sacramento.
FBI Sacramento announced on its X account, “Today, Harpreet Singh, an alleged terrorist responsible for terror attacks in Punjab, India, was arrested by the FBI and ERO in Sacramento. Linked to two international terrorist groups, he entered the US illegally and used burner phones to evade capture.”
Deputy Inspector General, Border Range, Satinder Singh, confirmed that the individual arrested in the US is Happy Passian, wanted by the Punjab Police in multiple cases.
Reportedly, Happy Passian, a resident of village Passian situated beyond ‘dhussi bundh’ near Indo Pak international border , near Ramdas in Amritsar district claimed responsibility for over a dozen grenade attacks in Punjab.
US-based social activist Sukhi Singh Chahal informed that Happy had entered the US. illegally and lived under the radar for years—employing burner phones and an underground network to avoid detection. But his luck ran out when federal agents moved in, acting on coordinated intelligence, to place him in custody, added he.
He further said that Happy Passians' arrests have also sent very strong signals that America is no sanctuary for those who threaten global peace or abuse the protections of open societies.
In the recent past, the name of Happy Passian had figured in the grenade attack on the house of BJP leader Manoranja Kalia in Jalandhar.
