SHAHJAHANPUR: Lakhimpur Kheri police have arrested eight persons, who were involve in auto theft cases and have recovered 14 cars from them. This information was shared with media persons during a press conference by police on Monday. The accused arrested by police were identified as Ishrat Ali, Sghahbaz Khan, Dinesh Sharma, Saurabh Malhotra, Raghvendra Singh, Shravan Kumar,Monu Singh and Alok Srivastava.
Police have recovered four Swift Dzire cars, three Hyundai I-20, two wagon-Rs, one Renault duster, one Innova and one Vitara Brezza from the accused. Most of the cars were stolen from Delhi and NCR. SSP Poonam said, “SWAT team was deployed to control the auto theft activities in the district. On Sunday, we received a tip off about the car lifter gang. Thereafter, a joint operation was initiated by SWAT team and SHO Kheri Police station and an accused was arrested. During interrogation, the accused gave us information about the stolen vehicles and the name of other persons involved with the gang. Thereafter, we conducted further raids and arrested others. The accused had also prepared forged documents. We have booked them under IPC section of 379 (Punishment for theft), 411(Dishonestly receiving stolen property), 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 467(Forgery of valuable security).”
