When Govinda called off his engagement with Sunita and would've probably married Neelam Kothari; admitted to have played dirty with his 'Khudgarz' co-star

Govinda and Neelam were a hit on-screen pair and have done a number of memorable movies together - from 'Khudgarz' to 'Love 86' and many more. Not to mention, remember the iconic song, 'Dil Behelta Hai Mera Aapke Aa Jaane Se'. Govinda and Neelam were also in love but at that point, Govinda was already engaged to Sunita. In an old interview, Govinda had spoken about his equation with both of them and how he had once called off his engagement with Sunita.
The actor also regretted playing dirty with Neelam as he didn't inform her when he finally got married to Sunita. The actor had said in an old interview with Stardust, "After I started getting busier, my relationship with Sunita went through a change. She began feeling insecure and jealous. And I was of no help. She would nag me and I would lose my temper. We had constant fights. In one of those fights, Sunita said something about Neelam, and I lost my head and called it quits. I asked Sunita to leave me. I broke off my engagement with her. And had Sunita not called me after five days and coaxed me into it again, I would probably have married Neelam."
After that, Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in an intimate ceremony and kept their wedding a big secret since the actor didn't want his career to get affected. However, Govinda regretted not informing Neelam about it. He said in the same interview, "Neither did Neelam know about it. She got to know only after a year. I probably did not tell her because I did not want to break this successful screen pair. And to be honest, to a certain extent, I did exploit my personal relationship with Neelam for professional ends. I played dirty with her. I should have told her that I was married.”
A few days ago, very recently, Sunita had said in a podcast, 'Timeout With Ankit', that they kept their wedding a secret as during those days there was a stereotype around actors and the fear that marriage would affect an actor's popularity and fan following.
Govinda and Sunita got married and have two children - Yashvardan Ahuja and Tina Ahuja. Meanwhile, Neelam tied the knot with actor Sameer Soni.
