Man gets 20yrs in jail for raping 6yo girl

Pilibhit: A court in Pilibhit sentenced a 29-year-old man to 20 years in jail for raping a six-year-old girl at a village fair. A financial penalty of Rs 1 lakh was also imposed on the convict.
The crime took place on Sept 7, 2015, in a village under Neuria limits when the child left home along with some other kids to see the village fair. Devendra Kumar lured the child by offering her some food and then violated her.
The girl was later saved by an office bearer of the mela committee with the help of some locals. An FIR was lodged the next day following a written complaint by the girl's father under IPC sections 376 (rape), 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult), and the Pocso Act, and a charge sheet was filed in court on Sept 21, 2015.
Public prosecutor, Anil Kumar Sharma, said medical examination report confirmed rape.
