BENGALURU: A 23-year-old youth who was riding his bike with two friends. who were kissing each other on the pillion, was captured on a video near Ragi Gudda Metro station recently.
Jayanagar traffic police took cognisance of the video, which went viral on social media, and traced the youth. The JP Nagar resident was fined about Rs 4,000 for riding recklessly without a helmet and for triple riding.

A week ago, a commuter recorded the video of the trio and uploaded it on social media, asking police to take action against them for what he called reckless riding and creating public nuisance. According to the commuter, when he questioned the three for riding recklessly, they scolded him. The commuter claimed they were indulging in the act between Ragi Gudda bus stop and the Metro station.
Jayanagar traffic police said the youth works in a medical store. He fled to Mysuru when the video went viral and switched off his mobile phone.
A police team reached his house based on the address found in regional transport office (RTO) records. His father works as a security guard and his mother a domestic help. He is their only son and had discontinued studies. Police said his mother bought him the bike by taking a loan.
Cops managed to contact the youth and convinced him to return to Bengaluru. He told police the pillion riders were his friends. They'd attended a party and were returning home when they were recorded by the commuter.
"We slapped a fine of Rs 4,000 for violations such as riding without a helmet, triple riding, reckless riding and others, and let him go with a warning not to indulge in such activities in future," a traffic police officer said.
