Man held for attacking vehicles with sword
Bengaluru: A man in his 30s was arrested in the early hours of Friday for allegedly smashing the windshields of two cars and damaging several other vehicles with a sword at KR Pura market. Police seized the weapon and booked him under the Arms Act.
The accused — Syed Sufian Aslam, who lives alone in JC Layout and works as an autorickshaw driver — was allegedly intoxicated during the incident. "Brandishing the sword, he walked into the market, terrifying a few women present there. Hearing them scream, a few men rushed to the spot and saw Aslam brandishing the sword. He then smashed the windshields of two parked cars, further hitting the sword on the windshields of a few more vehicles, including a mini-truck. As a crowd began to gather, Aslam attempted to flee. However, some bystanders chased him down. Later, we were informed and we picked him up," a cop said.
Aslam told police he had no recollection of the incident. "I was under the influence of alcohol and barely remember anything," he is said to have told them.
