SP Burhanpur Devendra Patidar said that on April 13, police received information about a body found in the bushes near the Indore-Ichhapur road opposite the ITI College.
Upon investigation, the deceased was identified as Rahul alias Golden, son of Ramchandra Pandey Kunbi Patil, resident of Shahpur. The case was registered and taken up for investigation. The body bore multiple fatal injuries.
Investigation revealed that Rahul's wife had been absconding since the incident and was involved in an affair with a man named Yuvraj. When Yuvraj was taken into custody and interrogated, he confessed to having planned Rahul's murder with his paramour—Rahul's wife.
On the night of April 12, between 8:00 and 8:30 PM, she video-called Yuvraj to show him Rahul’s blood-soaked body, stating that the job was done. Afterward, she, along with her juvenile accomplice and a friend named Lalit, fled to Ujjain or Mumbai.
During further investigation, police detained Rahul’s wife, the juvenile, and Lalit from Sanwer based on a tip-off. Under interrogation, she admitted to planning the murder with Yuvraj and informed his associates in advance. On the day of the incident, she took Rahul out under the pretext of shopping.
After returning from the market and dining at a roadside eatery, they were followed by Lalit and the juvenile from an old RTO barrier. As planned, she deliberately dropped her slipper near a speed breaker in front of ITI College and asked Rahul to stop. Once the vehicle stopped, Lalit and the juvenile arrived on a motorcycle, dragged Rahul into the bushes, and attacked him. She first hit him with a beer bottle, rendering him unconscious.
The juvenile then struck him with another bottle and repeatedly stabbed him with a sharp weapon. Lalit also stabbed Rahul multiple times, causing his death on the spot.
Following the murder, the three accused traveled to Raver railway station and took a train to Itarsi before heading to Ujjain. Throughout the crime, all four accused remained in contact via mobile phones.
Police said that the arrested accused are Bharat alias Yuvraj, 20, son of Kailash Patil, resident of Kodri Shahpur Burhanpur; Lalit, 20, son of Santosh Patil, also from Kodri Shahpur Burhanpur; the deceased’s minor wife; and a juvenile accomplice.
