BENGALURU: The birth centenary celebrations of former chief minister D Devaraj Urs organized by the backward classes wing of the Congress here on Thursday had senior leaders S M Krishna, Mallikarjun M Kharge and B K Hariprasad taking potshots at chief minister Siddaramaiah, without naming him for what they called his partisan politics.
Krishna was in the forefront of this, hinting at Siddaramaiah’s way of functioning, "Urs took along people from all walks of life, while taking decision.

However, today, people act as if they are Aham Brahmasmi (the God in himself) and do not require anyone along with them," he said.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary, B K Hariprasad said: "Urs practised what he preached. He adhered to the philosophy of social justice. But, today, all those who say they believe in the concept of social justice and claim to follow the philosophy of Urs have forgotten it when they ascended power. They are concentrating and encouraging only one particular caste."
Leader of the Congress party in Lok Sabha Kharge said, "Thos who believed in Urs concept of social equality and justice have left the Congress. But all those who lost due to the Urs concept of social justice are now within the Congress party. This is quite disappointing and hurtful."
KPCC president G Parameshwara did not react to any of these statements and told the audience that urs and former PM Rajiv Gandhi strived to bring the OBCs into the mainstream.
