Bhopal: BJP MLA Narendra Singh Kushwaha on Thursday raised concerns in the state assembly over the lack of a college for girl students from 70 villages in Bhind constituency. He reminded the House that CM Mohan Yadav had announced a new college at an agriculture and cooperative convention in Nayagaon on March 6 last year, but no action had been taken since.
Kushwaha said he was willing to donate land, and asked higher education minister Inder Singh Parmar to make the announcement that the govt will construct a college there.
The matter was raised by the Bhind MLA during the Question Hour. He demanded to know the progress on starting the new college and if the govt has selected a site for construction of the college building. Kushwaha asked for a date for starting the new college.
Replying to his query, the minister said: "The project report has been prepared. A plot for college is also under consideration. But it is not possible to give a precise date for completion of the college project."
Kushwaha said, "My constituency, which adjoins Uttar Pradesh, is half urban and half rural. There are 70 villages here that do not have a college nearby."
The minister said previously a college was started but had no basic facilities. "We have written to the district collector for land allotment. Once we find a plot of land, there will be no delay in construction of the college," Parmar said.
Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar acknowledged the govt's letter to the collector as a positive step, but Kushwaha insisted, "I will give land, just announce that the college will be opened."
The minister asked, "Will you give your land or the govt's land. What land are you speaking of? When did we deny to start the college? Allotment of land will be done by the collector."
