BHOPAL: A 10-year-old girl and her aunt were killed while five other injured after the SUV in which they were travelling overturned at Samardha Pulia on Thursday night. The accident spot is one of the black spots witnessing at least three road accidents every moth, but authorities are yet to chalk out a plan to prevent such incidents.
The driver probably was distracted by the high beam of light of a vehicle from opposite direction, lost control and ramming the vehicle into a culvert.
The SUV overturned killing Neha Pawar (10) and Surekha Pawar (35) on the spot. The victims were rushed to JP hospital.
Investigating officer ASI Bahadur Patel said Surekha’s husband Santosh Pawar was driving his family back to their native village in Sehore district. “They had come to attend a marriage function in Bhopal on Thursday and were on their way back to their village when the vehicle met with the accident at Samardha Pulia on Thursday around 11pm,” said Patel. His parents Hari Singh, Shama Bai and his children Sachin, Saurav and Sangeeta were injured in the incident. They are being treated at the hospital.
