MP HC issues notices to officials for failing to act against contractual teachers getting jobs with fake caste certificates
Bhopal: A division bench of the MP High Court issued notices to respondents in a public interest litigation (PIL) charging that five contractual school teachers were not being sacked despite their caste certificates being found fake in the probe ordered by the court.
Rajesh Kumar Gautam of Satna, in his petition, said that respondents Shyamlal, Sunderlal, Pyarelal, Ram Prakash, and Ram Charan were working as contractual teachers grade III at different govt middle schools in Birsinghpur tehsil. They are from the Kevat community, which is in the OBC list. During their education, they availed scholarships meant for OBC students. However, they produced a caste certificate of scheduled tribe (ST) to get the job.
After obtaining all the documents through RTI, Gautam filed a petition in the high court challenging the validity of their caste certificates. The court ordered a probe into the issue. The caste certificates produced by the respondents were found fake in the probe. The secretary of school education then asked the district collector and district education officer to take action on the teachers concerned, but no action was taken.
Following the initial hearing, the bench of Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Vivek Jain issued notices to respondent teachers and the secretary of GAS, district collector, SP, and DEO Satna, and station house officer (SHO) Birsinghpur, seeking a response while deferring the case for hearing six weeks later. Advocate Santosh Kumar Pathak appeared in the case for the petitioner.
