BJD not worried about ‘political experiments’

Bhubaneswar: Hours after 300 people from various walks of life, including former CM Giridhar Gamang, former MLAs and MP of Odisha joined the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi, the BJD said it has no reason to worry from such political experiments.“There is nothing unusual in a democracy for people to come together to further their political thought. However, BJD has no reasons to worry from such political development as the Naveen Patnaik led government continues to deliver on its promises and remains immensely popular,” said BJD national spokesperson Prasanna Acharya.BJP’s Prithivraj Harichdan said Odisha will continue to witness the BJP versus BJD fight in 2024 with any other political formation having almost no impact.Gamang, a nine-time former MP, his ex-MP and ex-MLA wife Hema Gamang, their son Shishir who had unsuccessfully fought the last assembly election on BJP ticket, former MPs Jayaram Pangi and Ramachandra Hansdah, RTI activist Pradip Pradhan and half a dozen former MLAs, among others joined the KCR-led party, which promises to offer pro-farmer politics in the country. While the Gamangs, Hansdah were among around 18 who boarded a charted flight to Hyderabad, some had flown to the Telangana capital in the regular flight. Many others travelled by four luxury buses and trains, said Kailash Mukhi, a former Congress state general secretary who has joined the BRS recently.Akshay Kumar, who leads farmers’ outfit Nabnirman Krushak Sangathan said Friday’s development will set a new milestone in Odisha politics strengthening the foundation for pro-farmer politics and governance in future.
