Ex-bank cashier gets 2-yr RI for embezzling Rs 11L

Kendrapada: Court of the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) in Aul on Friday sentenced a former cashier of a public sector bank to two years of rigorous imprisonment for embezzling Rs 11 lakh from a customer's account.
The case came to light when Sashikala Mahalik of Singiri village filed an FIR last year, alleging that Abhiram Mallick had misappropriated Rs 11 lakh from her husband's account through multiple unauthorised transfers while he was the bank's cashier.
"The conviction was based on testimonies from six witnesses and bank documents," said public prosecutor Brundaban Nanda.
