Chandigarh: Launching a scathing attack on BJP, former CM
Bhupinder Singh Hooda Thursday said it is continuously pushing Haryana into the quagmire of unemployment and inflation, and making the people of the state realise with every decision it makes that they chose the wrong govt. "On the one hand, it gave the shock of inflation to the public by increasing the electricity rates. On the other hand, it gave the shock of unemployment to hundreds of employees of Kaushal Rozgar Nigam by removing them from work," he said.
Reminding that Congress had warned the people that BJP's budget would only increase debt and inflation, Hooda said the party's prediction turned out to be true. "By increasing electricity rates by 40 paise per unit and creating new slabs, this govt is going to loot about Rs 5,000 crore from the people. Earlier, it had placed a huge burden on the public by imposing an additional FSA of about Rs 95 on those who consume more than 200 units of power. Which means, the third BJP govt has made its intentions clear in the first year of its rule itself — that it will move forward with the policies of looting the common man," he alleged.
Stating that BJP has not spared industries either, Hooda said, "The govt has also increased the electricity rates for the industry. Industries are already migrating from Haryana. Making power costlier will make investors run away or avoid coming to Haryana altogether. This will lead to more joblessness in the state."
Raising the issue of skilled workers, Hooda said, "Ahead of the elections, BJP promised to make 1.25 lakh temporary employees permanent. But as soon as the elections were over, the govt, contrary to its promise, started getting rid of skilled workers."
"Now once again, it has released a list of hundreds of workers who will be thrown out of work. Congress opposes every decision of the govt that snatches employment from the youth and leads to inflation," he added.
