JALANDHAR: A week after the release of Hindi movie "Jaat", Jalandhar Commissionerate police on Friday registered a case against its actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh, director Gopichand Malineni and producer Naveen Malineni for allegedly hurting sentiments of the Christian community.
The FIR was filed under Section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage the religious feelings of any class of citizens) of BNS on the complaint of a Christian community organisation.
The complainant, Viklaf Gold, also known as Vicky, a resident of the Pholriwal village and claiming to be the head of Global Christian Action Committee, Jalandhar, alleged, "A scene in the movie depicted a congregation in a church. Right below a picture of Jesus Christ on the pulpit, Randeep Hooda can be seen standing in the same posture, imitating Jesus, and there were scenes of hooliganism and threatening inside the church. Hooda has also mocked the word 'amen', which is objectionable. The religious sentiments of the entire Christian community have been hurt."
The complainant also alleged that the film was deliberately released during the holy month of Good Friday and Easter so that the Christians get angry and riots break out in the entire country and unrest is spread.
The FIR was registered at Jalandhar Sadar police station.
