FATEHGARH SAHIB: The police in Fatehgarh Sahib nabbed two individuals, who were allegedly involved in a robbery case, after a brief encounter that took place near the focal point of Mandi Gobindgarh town in Fatehgarh Sahib. The accused were identified as Jaideep and Basant of Moga. Both accused were injured and hospitalized while one cop was injured but was out of danger. The police claimed to have recovered two country-made illegal pistols from their possession.
The police said that a few days ago, some individuals committed a robbery of Rs 15 lakh by firing shots in Mandi Gobindgarh. Acting on this case, the Fatehgarh Sahib police on Sunday identified two individuals from Moga, Jaideep and Basant, who were involved in the incident and were conducting reconnaissance on an unnumbered motorcycle at the focal point in Mandi Gobindgarh, planning another crime.
The police claimed that when the suspects saw the police, they attempted to flee on a motorcycle via a dirt road; however, they fell on a mound of dirt. The suspects then fired at the police with two country-made pistols. In retaliation, the police fired, leaving both suspects injured and hospitalised in Civil Hospital Mandi Gobindgarh for treatment.
