32-year-old man held with 1kg meth

Chennai: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) agents arrested a 32-year-old man in Pudukkottai, seizing one kg of methamphetamine and 2 lakh in cash, the agency said.
The accused, Alex Mahalingam of Nagapattinam, has a record of eight cases filed against him by police.
In 2023, the Royapuram police apprehended him based on information from two other men arrested for possessing methamphetamine. This time, acting on a tip, NCB agents searched Melavilakudi in Pudukkottai district, leading to the recovery of the methamphetamine and Mahalingam's subsequent arrest.
NCB officers said that the drug originated in Bengaluru and was intended for transport to Sri Lanka via Rameshwaram. Further investigation is underway.
