Chennai: A man who left his friend injured during a drunken brawl hanged himself at home fearing arrest, police said.
Chandru thought that his friend
Rajini died due to his attack. However, Rajini has been admitted to the government hospital in Tiruttani.
Chandru, of Chinnammapet near Tiruttani, and Rajini, 44, of Thozhuthavur village near Tiruttani, would often meet at Tasmac outlets for drinking.
On Monday, they had booze at an outlet and a quarrel ensued. In a fit of rage, Chandru pushed Rajini onto the ground. Rajini fainted. Onlookers suspected Rajini died of the attack and rushed him to the government hospital in Tiruttani.
When Chandru returned home he was worried about police inquiries about the attack and the ‘murder’. He ended his life by hanging from the ceiling without knowing that Rajini was alive and had been admitted to hospital. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
