2 girls die while trying to save brother from drowning in Ganga at Haridwar

Although Vansh was saved, the sisters could not be rescued, and divers are currently searching for their bodies.

HARIDWAR: Two sisters, aged 14 and 15, drowned in the Upper Ganga Canal on Sunday while trying to save their 13-year-old brother, who was swept away by the river's currents at Chhath Ghat in Haridwar's Bahadrabad area.
The boy was subsequently saved, but the two girls, identified as Isha and Manisha, drowned after jumping into the river to rescue him, police said. Divers are searching for their bodies.
The siblings, originally from Mathura, UP, had come to the ghat with their father, Ravi Kumar, who currently works for a private firm in SIDCUL, Haridwar, and lives there.
SHO of Ranipur police station, Kamal Mohan Singh Bhandari, told TOI, "While bathing at the ghat, the boy, Vansh, was carried away by the currents, and both sisters jumped into the river to save him, but they ended up drowning. We reached the spot and started a rescue operation, but we could not trace them. The search operation will resume again on Monday morning."
