Haridwar: A 50-year-old factory owner and his employee died after a fire broke out at a chemical factory in Ibrahimpur village, Haridwar, late on Sunday night.
Police said the deceased were identified as Mahesh Chandra Agarwal,50, the owner of the Ganpati Chemical factory and a resident of Harilok Colony in Haridwar, and Sanjay Kumar, 21, from Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.
SP City Pankaj Gairola told TOI, "We received a call about a fire in the factory on Sunday night. Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot. We rescued one person, 40-year-old Jogendra Saini of Laksar, Haridwar, who sustained burn injuries and was referred to a higher centre for treatment."
He added, "Initially, we were informed that four people were trapped inside. Agarwal was reportedly outside when the fire broke out but went back in to his office and got trapped. We later recovered two bodies, including that of Agarwal. The factory was destroyed, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire."
