RUDRAPUR: An argument over the taste of a ‘tikki' led to a man from Udham Singh Nagar suffering burn injuries after his cousin allegedly threw a frying pan full of hot oil at him. The incident took place on April 20 during a wedding function at Laxmi Garden in Kashipur.
Police said Ashok Kumar, a resident of Kharakpur Mohalla, was preparing tikki at the event, assisted by a youth named Raju. During the function, Raju's cousin, Vicky Singh, asked for a tikki. Unhappy with its taste, Vicky started criticising the way it was prepared. Raju offered to make another one, but an argument broke out, during which Vicky allegedly hurled abuses.
When Raju tried to defuse the situation, Vicky, in a fit of rage, threw hot oil from a nearby frying pan, which spilled onto Raju, causing serious burns. Raju was taken to a private hospital for treatment.
Despite initially assuring he would bear the entire medical expenses, Vicky allegedly did not inquire about Raju's condition or provide financial help. Raju, who was facing financial issues, later filed a complaint at the Bansfodan police outpost on April 25.
Following an investigation, police confirmed the matter was a family dispute that had been "resolved amicably". Manoj Dhoni, in-charge of the police outpost, said, "Both parties have submitted a written settlement, stating that the oil fell accidentally during the scuffle…In view of the mutual settlement, no FIR has been lodged."
