NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have arrested four persons, two of them minors in connection with the stabbing of a 53-year-old sub-inspector in Northwest Delhi’s Azadpur area.
The incident occurred last Friday.
The victim, Prempal Diwakar, who lives with his family in Azadpur, is posted with the Police Control Room (PCR) unit of the North East Zone in Wazirabad.
According to police, a distress call reporting a stabbing was received at around 7.20 pm. Upon reaching the spot, officers found Diwakar near his residence with multiple stab wounds to his abdomen. He was given immediate medical aid.
During an initial inquiry with family members, Diwakar reportedly named a suspect involved in the assault, prompting a swift investigation.
Police subsequently formed several teams and carried out raids at various locations, which led to the arrest of four individuals allegedly involved in the attack.
A senior officer said the accused claimed the altercation began near a railway track close to the victim’s home. According to them, the sub-inspector allegedly threw something at them, sparking an argument that escalated into a physical fight, ending in the stabbing.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the attack.
