NEW DELHI: A dramatic confrontation unfolded in Gurgaon Basai Enclave when a man allegedly caught his wife with her lover, who then attacked him with the butt of a pistol and issued a chilling threat, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, the accused also warned the husband of facing a fate similar to the recent Meerut horror, in which a woman and her paramour killed her husband, chopped up the body and dumped it in a cement-filled drum, news agency PTI reported.
The accused duo fled the scene after neighbours intervened.
The victim, Mausam, a cab driver from Kharman village in Haryana’s Jhajjar, filed a complaint with police, stating that he had married the woman two years ago, despite his family’s disapproval.

Should the police increase patrols in areas like Basai Enclave to prevent such incidents?

The couple had since been living in Basai Enclave.
“When I reached home around 6 am on Monday after night duty, I couldn’t find my wife in the room. When I went to the terrace, I saw my wife standing with Naveen, a resident of my village,” Mausam stated in his complaint.
“As I interrupted them, Naveen took out a pistol and pointed it on my head. He also hit me on the head with the butt of the pistol. They fled after our neighbours reached the spot,” he added.
Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation. A senior officer confirmed that efforts are on to trace and arrest the accused.
