IIT-Delhi student dies by suicide in hostel room

NEW DELHI: An M.Sc. second-year student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his hostel room on Tuesday night.

The deceased, identified as Yash Kumar, hailed from Deoghar, Jharkhand.

Kumar's friends and IIT staff were forced to break the windows to enter the room, as the door was locked from the inside.

No suicide note was recovered from the scene.

Kumar's medical records revealed that he had been undergoing psychiatric treatment.
