According to the woman’s father, the complainant in the case, Gaurav and his family soon started to harass and abuse her for dowry.
Police said Gaurav suspected his wife of having an affair, and the couple often fought on the topic. Gaurav had gone to Jaipur on Sunday but returned late at night, and the couple had an argument on Monday early morning. During the spat, Gaurav allegedly choked his wife to death before smashing her head with a speaker box in their room.
“We received a call at our helpline around 6 am, with the caller informing us that people have caught a man with blood-stained clothes,” circle office Sadar Akash Patel said. A team from Masuri police station immediately rushed to the spot, took Gaurav into custody, and recovered Tina’s body. Police then sent the body for a post-mortem and informed her family about the incident.
Tina’s father said, “After a few days of their marriage, my daughter’s in-laws started to harass and even abuse her for dowry. Initially, they had demanded a Bullet motorcycle and a car. When she failed to deliver, they started demanding money. I managed to arrange Rs 7 lakh for them, and Gaurav used it in his tiffin services business. Despite this, his family members kept abusing and harassing her. They demanded more, but my daughter had started opposing their demands.”

The father alleged that on Sunday night too, Gaurav harassed Tina and killed her.
“Based on the complainant, we registered a case under sections 304-B (dowry death), 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also under sections 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. We have arrested the accused and are also investigating the role of his family members in the case,” Patel said.
