Calangute: Two beachside structures which had been built without any permission from the authorities were demolished on Anjuna beach and at Vagator in the Anjuna panchayat jurisdiction on Tuesday.
At Vagator, the illegal structures belonging to a beach club and restaurant were demolished following an order issued by the sub-divisional magistrate, North Goa, Rajesh Ajgaonkar.
The demolition of the illegal pucca construction in Survey No. 213/22 was carried out in the presence of an executive magistrate to ensure compliance with legal and administrative procedures, officials said. A police team comprising a PSI, five constables, and two lady constables from the Anjuna police station were present to maintain law and order during the demolition.
On Anjuna beach, the demolition squad cleared illegal structures at Curlies beach shack in Survey No. 42/10 following an order issued by the mamlatdar, Bardez.
Officials said the demolitions were carried out in line with govt’s commitment to upholding regulations and preserving coastal land.
