Panaji: Under fire from the All Goa Excavator Owners Association, the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has put in place SOPs for excavation or movement of debris within industrial estates. The board on Wednesday decided that all rubble excavated from within an industrial estate will be stored in a designated area and used only for GIDC works.
The SOPs were established after the All Goa Excavator Owners Association accused the GIDC of favouritism towards contractors from other states. The board resolved that all soil excavated from any plot within the industrial estate shall be deemed the GIDC’s property. It also decided that no excavated soil shall be transported outside the estate. GIDC MD, Pravimal Abhishek, has been authorised to implement the SOPs “with immediate effect”.
GIDC officials said the soil will be used by the corporation for filling low-lying areas, strengthening shoulders, and infrastructure upgrades within the industrial estates.
