KOHIMA: Nagaland is set to witness one of the most exciting literary competitions-the first Spelling Bee competition-in September.
The event is being solely conceptualized, managed and initiated by the Fountain Club, Kohima and sponsored by Nagaland SCERT department with Morung Express as the official media partner.
Speaking to the media at Fountain Club, the organizers said the competition is open for students between Class 8 and 12 for all educational institutions based within Nagaland and the organizers are expecting a minimum of 200 participants.
Each educational institution will be allowed two participants, they said, adding the competition will be held on September 28 and 29. On September 28, preliminary rounds will be held and the finals will be held the next day.
The winner will be awarded Rs 50,000, the first runner-up Rs 30,000, Rs15,000 for the second runner-up and Rs5000 for all the quarter finalists.
The organizers of the competition said the aim behind organizing this competition is to provide a platform to the students to give their best and excel at the national and international levels and to encourage them to explore their knowledge and intellect. They expressed hope that the event will be a success and the Spelling Bee competition will become an annual event in the coming years.
