College girl dies by suicide in Belagavi, case comes to light a week later

Belagavi: A case of a college girl dying by suicide in a govt hostel last week by hanging herself, came to light recently. A case was registered at Malmaruti police station. The deceased was identified as Shilpa Yaramanal, 22, a resident of Shiggaon, Haveri district. Shilpa was a student of BCA at Sangolli Rayanna PU college. According to sources, Shilpa was said to be in a relationship with a person belonging to a particular community who works in a furniture shop in Shiggaon. It is being said that his harassment led Shilpa to take the extreme step. Belagavi police have transferred the case to the Haveri police for further investigation. TNN
