Four family members killed in road accident near Hubballi

Hubballi: Three women from the same family who were travelling in a car died on the spot in a road accident near Noolvi Cross on the outskirts of Hubballi on Sunday evening.
According to police sources, the driver of the car plying from Varur towards Hubballi lost control and crashed into a roadside barrier, which led to four deaths in the accident. Three women passengers in the car died on the spot, while the remaining two were seriously injured and were shifted to KMC-RI Hospital. Later, another woman passenger died at the hospital.
The deceased are: Shankutala Hiremath, 75, Sujata Hiremath, 61, Gayatri Hiremath, 65 and Sampath Kumari Hiremath, 60, who breathed her last after being shifted to hospital. Veeresh Hiremath, 69, is severely injured, and is being treated at KMC-RI Hospital. They are all residents of Lingaraj Nagar in Hubballi.
Dharwad superintendent of police Gopal Byakod said the accident occurred while passengers were returning to Hubballi. Hubballi Rural police station is investigating.
