Belagavi: The BJP Yuva Morcha held a protest in Belagavi on Friday, demanding the resignation of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for their alleged involvement in the
National Herald case. The activists of BJP Yuva Morcha protested at the Channamma Circle and shouted slogans against the Congress leaders for alleged misappropriation of public properties allocated to the National Herald newspaper.
Mahantesh Vakkund, district president of BJP Yuva Morcha, said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed the chargesheet against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi based on solid evidence. He stated that the Congress leaders will face imprisonment for corruption and misappropriation of public funds. He criticised the Congress for labelling the ED's action as political vendetta and insisted that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should take responsibility for their involvement in the National Herald case and resign from their posts.
Murughedragouda Patil, district BJP leader, said that the then Congress leader Jawaharlal Nehru founded the National Herald newspaper with good intentions as part of his policy of journalism. However, the National Herald newspaper was sold as a family property, and there is a suspicion of embezzlement of Rs 751 crore, which has been investigated. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who are involved in the multi-crore scam of the National Herald newspaper, have lost the integrity to continue as MPs, he said.
