Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Friday directed chief minister A
Revanth Reddy to explain the current status of a criminal case registered against him at Gachibowli in 2016. Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya, hearing a writ appeal filed by Revanth, also instructed him to submit all relevant documents pertaining to the case.
The case arises from a land dispute involving Revanth's brother, Kondal Reddy, and others, against the SC Mutually Aided Cooperative Housing Society at Gopanpally, Gachibowli. The dispute concerns approximately 31 acres of land.
According to the complaint, Revanth, then Malkajgiri MP and TPCC working president, along with his brother and associates, allegedly trespassed onto the disputed property, threatened members of the housing society, and abused them in connection with the case. Police subsequently filed a chargesheet in the matter.
Appearing on behalf of Revanth, his counsel argued that the case was politically motivated. He said that although a chargesheet was submitted in 2019, no charges have been formally framed in court. The legal team sought to have the proceedings quashed.
In response, counsel representing the housing society alleged that Revanth was using his political influence to interfere with the judicial process.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court directed the CM to produce a report on the case's status before the trial court. The matter has been adjourned to June 13 for further proceedings.
