Hyderabad: With the increase in the cost of domestic LPG cylinder to Rs 905, Hyderabad has climbed to the second position in the chart for the highest LPG price in the country after Patna, which is at Rs 950.

In cities like Mumbai and Kolkata, the cost of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder is around Rs 850.
In fact, there are slight differences in cylinder prices between rural and urban areas. Prices tend to be slightly higher in remote areas of the state than in urban centres, and there can also be variations within different neighbourhoods of a city.
According to an oil company manager, this variation is due to two main factors: dynamic pricing, which is set by the oil companies, and transportation costs.
The main suppliers are Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Indian Oil Company and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. One of these companies has a direct pipeline from Visakhapatnam to its service station on the outskirts of Hyderabad, while the others rely on a supplier with a direct link to Visakhapatnam.
Companies with filling stations outside the city are supplied by road from Visakhapatnam. Some of the gas supply comes from Chennai and Mangalore.
The official said that all these factors have an impact on pricing.
"The cost of transportation from Visakhapatnam adds to the price differential depending on the place of supply," said a representative of the Telangana LPG Distributors Association.
Urban consumers, meanwhile, are concerned about the impact of the LPG cylinder price hike on other essential commodities.
"While individuals can limit their use of cooking gas or liquid fuels, the rising prices inevitably affect the cost of vegetables, grains and other essentials," said Chandrasekhar Reddy, a private employee.
