Apply for PhD progs at DAVV from May 15
Indore: Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) will open the application window for PhD aspirants from May 15. Admission to PhD programmes will be conducted through two routes – entrance examination and NET-based selection. "The registrations for guides and PhD aspirants will commence in May and the exam is planned in June. We are planning the schedule for smooth conduct of second phase of PhD entrance," said DAVV PhD cell chairman Dr Ashesh Tiwari.
The entrance test will be held in the third week of June for 13 subjects, primarily from the field of engineering. Candidates holding a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55 per cent marks will be eligible to appear for the exam.
For the remaining 28 subjects, admissions will be based on the National Eligibility Test (NET) scores. Candidates who qualified the NET in June or Dec 2024 will be eligible to apply, as the result for the June cycle was released in Oct, granting candidates eligibility until Oct 2025.
The final allotment of PhD seats will take place after the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) interviews. NET-qualified candidates will be called directly for interviews, and selection will be based on merit in case of limited seat availability. For candidates appearing through the entrance examination route, selection will depend on both the entrance exam results and RAC interviews.
Subjects for which NET-qualified candidates can apply include education, Marathi, biotechnology, botany, life sciences, zoology, mathematics, Hindi, English, commerce, management, physics, chemistry, home science, law, economics, political science, sociology, Urdu, and yoga, among others.
The detailed admission schedule and guidelines are expected to be released soon on the university official website.
The university will also commence the process of adding new PhD research guides from May 1. On the same day, existing guides will be allowed to apply for enhancement of their seat capacity. Those guides under whom PhD degrees were already awarded or whose eligibility increased due to promotions will be able to request additional seats.
