Teachers don black bags to protest delay in transfers
Jaipur: Grade-III teachers are protesting transfer delays by wearing black bands in govt schools. On Tuesday, some teachers wore full black plastic bags instead of black bands to register their unique protest.
The teachers, protesting under the banner of Rajasthan Shikshak Sangh Ekikrit, have also demanded that the transfer policy be made available in the public domain and that direct promotions be initiated.
Ranjeet Meena, state general secretary of the organisation, said this movement by teachers will continue in various phases until their demands are met.
"Teachers will register their protest while continuing their teaching duties. The education minister has mentioned several times that transfers would start after March 15 or after board exams, but teachers are still waiting. Several deadlines have passed, but the govt's promises are not being materialised, and now teachers will continue their protest until proper action is taken," said Meena.
Teachers said the govt talks about a transparent transfer policy but does not act on it, compelling Grade-III teachers to take this step. In the state, around 90,000 Grade-III teachers have been waiting for transfers. The transfer of Grade-III teachers has been on hold since 2018.
"We are organising all teachers with the black band protest, after which we will decide a date when all teachers will march to Jaipur from their respective districts for a mega protest," added Meena.
