Kanpur: Pt Deen Dayal Vidyalaya is leading in the boys group of Kanpur Sahodya School inter-school chess championship being played at Prabhat Senior Secondary School, Sarvodya Nagar, on Friday. After three rounds on day one in the boys group, Deen Dayal School is leading with 6 points. DPS Azad Nagar and Gardenia Public School are at second and third place with 5 and 4 points respectively.
In the girls group, Sanatan Dharam Vidyalaya, JK Singhania, and Nurture Schools all have 6 points after three rounds. Earlier, chief guest Sanjeev Pathak, former international TT player, inaugurated the two-day event. According to Dilip Srivastava, secretary of Kanpur Chess Association, 90 boys from 18 schools and 75 girls from 15 schools are participating. The last two rounds will be played on Saturday.
Sahodaya School Zone – B girls chess – Har Milap Mission School is leading with 6 points in Kanpur Sahodya School Zone B (class 6 to 8th) chess championship being held at Sriram Public School, Kidwai Nagar, on Friday. Archies Higher Secondary, UP Kirana, Sriram Education Center Panki and Dr V Swarup Jajmau are jointly at second place with 5 points after three rounds. Four schools are jointly at third place with 4 points. Around 125 girls of 22 CBSE schools of Zone B are participating in this event, which was inaugurated by Pratibha Asthana, principal of the host school.
Cricket -- Rashtriya Youth, Kesco, City, and Kherapati Club defeated their rival teams at different grounds and collected full points in KDMA cricket league being played here on Friday.
