TMC hits back at Modi, points to Bilkis Bano episode in Gujarat

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress on Wednesday invoked “Bilkis Bano” to get back at PM Narendra Modi within just over 10 minutes of his campaign speech in Barasat targeting Mamata Banerjee’s party for its “sins” in Sandeshkhali.

“PM Modi claims to hang all rapists when, in reality, they receive 5-star treatment, including felicitation, garlands of flowers and political power and benefits,” TMC said on X.

“Does Bilkis Bano remind you of anything, PM? Modi ki guarantee? Zero warranty.”
Playing on the PM’s reference to “Modi Ka Parivar” in his speech, TMC said membership to this family was “exclusive to criminals, rapists and the corrupt”.
“Here’s why — BJP has the highest number of MPs/MLAs with criminal cases against them; BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan accused of sexual misconduct against female wrestlers; BJP’s IT Cell members (were) involved in the rape and molestation of multiple IIT-BHU students.”
Minister Shashi Panja joined in the tirade. "Mr Modi, you had hailed Ma Sarada, Ma Kali and Ma Durga in your speech. Did you take note of Bengal BJP’s derogatory caricature of Ma Sarada Devi? "
