LUCKNOW: A minor fire broke out in a complex in Habibullah Estate in Hazratganj area on Thursday evening.
The incident spread panic in the area as the building, the two-storey Gyan Ganga complex which houses offices of a medical company and a saloon, is surrounded by restaurants and pubs. Fortunately, there was nobody in the building at the time of the incident.
DCP central zone, Aparna Rajat Kaushik told TOI that around 8.30pm, the fire broke out on the second floor in the medical company office due to a short circuit in some electrical equipment.
"Firefighters had to break the windows of the building for ventilation and dousing the fire," she said.
Chief fire officer,
RP Yadav, said that six fire tenders from Hazratganj and Chowk were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused within 20 minutes. "We managed to control the fire on time. If the blaze had spread to other buildings, the losses would have been massive," he said.
