Complainant Rajesh Singh (40) of Preet Nagar in Shimlapuri said he worked as an assistant engineer in an oil expeller manufacturing firm in Industrial Area-A. He had gone for an official tour outside town and returned to the city on Tuesday morning at around 5am. Then, he boarded an autorickshaw from the railway station, in which four men were already sitting, but when he alighted from the auto near Arora Theatre on Gill Road, he noticed that the zip of his bag was open and cash inside it was missing. Soon, he realised that miscreants were sitting in the auto posing as passengers, and they had stolen his cash.
As soon as he raised an alarm, the miscreants threw his second bag out of the auto and escaped. Meanwhile, an auto driver and some commuters gave them a chase and managed to nab three of the accused. On being informed, Shimlapuri police reached the spot, detained, and nabbed the accused. Shimlapuri police station SHO inspector Pramod Kumar said the police were questioning the accused to trace their accomplices. The police are also suspecting their involvement in other similar cases. A complaint has been lodged in the matter.
