Ludhiana: The Kila Raipur Games, 2025, popularly known as "Rural Olympics," started at Kila Raipur village with 10 games organised under various categories and age groups. Cabinet minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, who inaugurated the games, announced that the govt would resume the bullock cart race soon.
Sports enthusiasts of all ages competed in 10 activities, including men's and women's hockey matches, Kabaddi events for girls under 14 and under 17, 60m and 100m races for boys and girls, 1,500m races for men and women, 400m race heats and finals, Kho-Kho matches, volleyball for men, shooting events, and various traditional rural games. Minister Sond announced that the Punjab govt had allocated a budget of Rs 75 lakh to organise the historic games. On resumption of the bullock cart races, he said that the govt was considering issuing a notification about it and that he had also requested the chief minister's support. Later in the evening, a musical performance was held by the popular Punjabi singer Preet Harpal.
