Punjab School Education Board Class VIII exam: City students bag top 2 slots in district
Ludhiana: Rishika and Ranjan Kumar, who belong to families with roots in other states, secured the top two positions in the district in the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) class VIII examination. Rishika's parents belong to Pratapgarh district, Uttar Pradesh while Ranjan Kumar's family is from Kotwa village in Motihari district, Bihar.Rishika, a student of Government Girls High School, Ramgarh bagged the first position in the district with 597 marks or 99.50%. She said that she had been a consistent topper since Class I and was confident about making it to the merit list this time as well. An avid reader and cricket enthusiast, Rishika aspires to be a civil engineer. She followed a disciplined study routine, studying till midnight and waking up at 6am. Her father, Harilal, works in factory, while her mother, Kalpana, is a homemaker.Ranjan Kumar, a student of SGD Grammar School, stood second in the district with 595 marks or 99.17%. Ranjan aspires to become a businessman. His father, Manoj Kumar, works as a dyeing master in a factory, while his mother, Shobhavati Kumari, is a homemaker. He said that his elder sister also had her Class X board exams and they studied together. Manveer Singh secured the third position with 594 marks or 99%. A student of Harsh Vidya Mandir School, New Subhash Nagar, Manveer dreams of joining the Merchant Navy. His father, Jasdeep Singh, runs a cosmetic shop, while his mother, Mandeep Kaur, is a homemaker. He enjoys reading books and painting.
Gurjot Singh secured the third position with 594 marks. Passionate about cricket, Gurjot aims at becoming a mechanical engineer. His father, Gurvinder Singh, works as a carpenter, while his mother, Ritu, is a homemaker. Regular study is the key to scoring well in the exams, he says.
