Home minister ignored people’s representatives: BJP
Mangaluru: Mangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty condemned the meeting held by home minister and district minister to discuss law and order in Dakshina Kannada district without taking Hindu leaders and elected representatives into confidence.
"The entire Dakshina Kannada district was shocked by the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty by communal forces in Bajpe's Kinnipadavu. Meanwhile, home minister G Parameshwara and Dakshina Kannada district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao held a meeting with Muslim leaders as soon as they arrived in the district," he said, accusing the govt of engaging in appeasement policy.
Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath accused district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao of arranging a meeting with Muslim leaders at a time when a Hindu activist was murdered. "It is an extended part of their ongoing appeasement politics that they are ignoring local representatives and Hindu leaders. They must remember that they are ministers not just for the Muslim community but for the entire state."
"Justice for Suhas Shetty's death is not possible under such an anti-Hindu govt. This investigation should immediately be handed over to the NIA, and the govt must take direct responsibility and provide a solution, as the murder occurred after the police department summoned Suhas Shetty to the station and instructed him not to carry any weapons," Kamath said.
