Suhas Shetty Murder Case: High Alert In Mangaluru After Murder Accused Hacked To Death
NEW DELHI: A chilling video has surfaced showing the murder of Suhas Shetty, a known rowdy sheeter in his early thirties, who was hacked to death on a busy Mangaluru road.

The attack, captured on video shows at least five assailants using machetes and swords to fatally assault Shetty.
The incident occurred around 8:30 pm on Thursday near Kinnipadavu Cross, when Shetty was traveling with five associates—Sanjay, Prajwal, Anvith, Latheesh, and Shashank.
Their vehicle was intercepted by six attackers travelling in a Swift car and a pickup truck. The assailants dragged Shetty out and launched a violent assault, inflicting grievous injuries. Though rushed to AJ Hospital, Shetty succumbed to his wounds.
Police have registered a murder case and launched a manhunt to identify and arrest the culprits. Preliminary investigation suggests the attack was premeditated, though the motive is still unclear.
Shetty was a familiar figure in Mangaluru’s criminal circles, with five cases registered against him—four in the city and one in Dakshina Kannada. He was also named as a prime accused in the 2022 murder of Mohammed Fazil, a 23-year-old resident of Mangalapete, a case that had previously triggered communal tension in the region.
In the wake of Shetty’s killing, Mangaluru Police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, banning public gatherings, processions, sloganeering, and the carrying of potential weapons.
The order covers the entire Mangaluru City Police jurisdiction and is aimed at preventing any escalation of violence.
City police commissioner Anupam Agrawal, who is also the additional district magistrate, confirmed the imposition of the prohibitory orders and said the situation is being closely monitored. Following the incident, Bajrang Dal called for a bandh late Thursday night, and there were reports of stone-pelting on buses by unidentified miscreants.
“We have registered a murder case, and teams are actively working on identifying the accused. It's too early to establish the motive. We have imposed prohibitory orders to maintain peace,” Commissioner Agrawal said.
Police presence has been significantly increased in sensitive areas, with continuous patrolling underway to ensure law and order is maintained.
