6 hurt as electric scooty blast triggers house fire in Meerut

Meerut: Six people were injured after an electric scooty caught fire and triggered a massive blaze, while charging inside a house in Golden Colony under the jurisdiction of Lisari Gate police station in Meerut during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, police said.
Ashutosh Kumar, Kotwali CO, told TOI, "The incident took place around 1am when Mohammad Shahjad put his electric two-wheeler to charge, with another petrol scooter parked nearby. Following an explosion, the second scooter also caught fire, and the flames rapidly spread throughout the house. Shahjad, his wife Raisha, and their 16-year-old daughter Rani, along with three others, including two children, suffered minor burns."
He added, "The injured were rescued from the fire and rushed to the hospital. All are stable and safe. No formal complaint has been filed by the injured. If anyone suspects foul play or chooses to file a complaint, we will investigate accordingly. However, the injured have declined any police action."
